Reading Louis Tackwood's The Glasshouse Tapes. A fine read, talking about the agent provocateur. I am just wondering if trolling and assuming multiple ISP's could be considered this as well. I mean I have gone back thru some old message boards and it seems to be the same person or two creating ID's for years and causing hassles. I don't know if it just me that sees this-lol. It is interesting, yet it makes you wonder if these people/person of whatever have lives? And it is really kind of sad, with all the internet technology and such that they think they can get away with stuff like this anymore, especially with the programs that can trace routed IP's and such. I mean why go to all the trouble of creating these ID's and ISP's at all? Why dont they just speak for themselves? Dunno. Maybe a new form of mental illness perhaps, or just too much time on their hands? I feel a poll coming ...lol
Well, it seems as if there is one person who likes to be many, and to take on many viewpoints as different people routed thru different ISP's. Funny about them type of people--they like to stir up certain groups either to get them sued or shut down. To me they are just sick people, who have no real friends, lives, and really need to a grip on the fact that they are so see through that a check of the logs isnt even necessary, but it is fun, to see what kind of shenanigans they try to pull next. Really, the data says it all.
LOL-really I am not too worried about them, they are pathetic and stoopid. (even though they think they are really smart)

And I would not have noticed it but some other posters recognized this behavior and tracked ids. (something that I do not know how to do) After learning this, it became sort of obvious that it was one person. It is really clever and sometimes funny.
They do it on political boards a lot. They can alter polls too I guess. It is very effective in that it can lead people to believe that a whole lot of people out there think the way that the troll does. Sometimes they even argue with themselves which is kind of cute. I like arguing with myself cause I always win.
It is really funny when they mess up and forget the IP's can be traced even though they may be routed, or have so many different names they forget to change. Or if they have so many windows open on their browser and all sit idle and then move within minutes or seconds of each other. I mean is that too much time on ones hands --or just some kind of illness or what? maybe it makes them feel better about themselves. :
What is scarier is people who stalk people via the internet, and troll boards under different names etc and think they can get away with it. It is almost like a heroin addiction it seems to some.

Another type of sockpuppet is sometimes referred to as a strawman sockpuppet. They are created by users with one point of view, but act as though they have an opposing point of view, in order to make that point of view look bad. Such sockpuppets will typically advance foolish straw man arguments which their opponents can then easily refute. They often act in an unintelligent, uninformed, or bigoted manner. The effect is to discredit more rational arguments for the same side.
Wow-that's crazy. I mean why would someone go to all that trouble to do that? That's stupid...especially the" unintelligent, uninformed, or bigoted manner". All those things in real life are bad enough but to have them on the internet too.. :
that is so funny!
Not really!
We could probably do a little better than that. I would hate to think we would hurt one of our few friends over something like that.
