I really don't know how they didn't look harder at Bruce Davis for some of these things. I've read (hopefully can find the link somewhere) that Doreen Gaul was an ex girlfriend of his, and he's was also in scientology. According to what i read, she was dating a black man, which apparently was one of the things that had set Davis off about Shorty Shea. Then Davis is in London at the same time Pugh (who may or may not have been married to Sandy Good) commits suicide by slashing himself repeatedly with a razor in a London hotel. Just for fun, I put together a timeline for Davis. 6.4.63 Possible Zodiac Killing, Domingos/Edwards. Unsolved, but very much like the couples who ran into the Zodiac. 2.5.64 Unsolved San Diego killing, young couple, zodiac later mentioned a flight 555, daily flight to san diego from LA. 10.30.66 Unsolved Riverside, CA Cheri Jo Bates. man helped with car trouble, offered her a ride, murdered her. Zodiac later took credit for this one. Distributor wires had been pulled out. Davis lived in Riverside at the time. Lots of these unsolved ones are this same car trouble scenario. Unsolved, makes you wonder why there was a panic over Manson, a panic over Zodiac, but no big news on the good Samaritan tire-changing killer. Those are very interesting and probably warrant a board in an of themselves. Also, there is a list of unsolved crimes that could be added to that as well. The documents I have seen, say Davis was tracked coming back from England in April and Pugh was in December. And the FBI questioned him on the Gaul/Sharp, he was kind of cleared but not really helpful. Good finds. ;D
According to a lot of the cops who worked on the Manson Family, if the DA (Evelle Younger) hadn't been in such a hurry to bring the case to trial, they would have been able to put away a lot more family members and been able to clear up some of these unsolved murders. Of course people in the DA's office say that if Chief Davis hadn't been so quick to announce the "solving of the case", they would have been able to build cases against Family members for some of these unsolved murders.
