Bobby Jameson was listed as a suspect in the 2nd homicide report (Cielo) page 9. He has written his biography and it's posted in his blog - over 200 parts if all told, it's taken me 3 days to get to part 99. He was a singer/song writer that made it, but really didn't... He was promoted and had a hit record by the time he was 17 - but it was only promoted in Canada and Ohio - with this, he spent a year in England and recorded with Mick Jagger (nothing happened with that song!) He had connections with a lot of people - lived with the guys that became Crazy Horse, in an apartment on Franklin near Highland (Hollywood) - sound familiar? He became "Chris Lucey" - the brits would know about that album, songs of protests/anti-protests...something like that His song "Vietnam" was used in the soundtrack for Mondo Hollywood He dated Deana Martin and that's how he met Terry Melcher, Terry was dating her sister Gail. He was friends with Arthur Lee and Love (when they were the Grass Roots) Diane Linkletter, dated Pam and introed her to Frank Zappa There's much much more,.. people have asked him about Manson and he won't talk about it, but he does describe how/why he was arrested around that time (not Manson related)...and is a little vague about it. Anyone interested in the "real Hollywood rock scene" of the 60's, this will be a treat... I still have 100 + parts to read.. http://bobbyjameson2...alamo-part.html
Great stuff, Fab4. And I'm way behind you... I am tempted to attempt contact after more reading. Thanks. I'll upload some of the (I think) great L.P. I have... It is very 'Love'-like.
Hi Paul - yes, he said he "borrowed" (haha) the sound of Arthur Lee in some of his songs - I can't wait until you put them up! And yes! Please contact him - I bet he would be thrilled to know you have his LP! I'm sure you're familiar with the folks in England that he ran around with...you would have a lot to chat about... I would contact him, but I wouldn't know what to say or where to begin!
I went on Pam's Rock Tour: Holywood and Laurel Canyon. They just happened to be filming the VH1 Rock Doc: Let's Spend The Night Together. They wanted us to ask her questions and I SOOO wanted to ask her if she ever ran into any of the "family", but I was afraid I would be kicked off the tour. Because it seems like nobody wants to admit being even aquainted with the fam. As it turned out, the whole tour was cut out of the show except about a 3 second segment of us taking a group picture in front of what had been The Hullabaloo. So, I can say I was in the Rock Doc. :hi:
NT, how long ago was that? I wish you would have asked her...but I also agree, they don't want to talk about "that part" of Hollywood or so it seems.. Haha, I remember Hullabaloo...my sister danced on that show, and also 9th Street West and the Lloyd Thaxton Show.....that was a long time ago...
I went on the tour in January of 2010. Pamela looks fabulous (especially for 63, 61 at tour time) and is so sweet. You can still see the flower child in her. On another note, Fab4fan...or rather, back on topic, I started reading the Bobby Jameson blog (I'm on part 19). Thanks for the new obsession. I love reading about Hollywood rock history. Something that is confusing to me...when I started reading about Tony Alamo, I googled him and on wikipedia (I know, lame) it says he changed his name in 1966 when he married Susan Lipowitz. Bobby Jameson always refers to him as Tony Alamo and his "record label" in 1964 was TALAMO.
Thanks Paul - I've been wanting to hear that...do you have any idea why that album was kept underground?
I am friends with Bobby. He says he got taken in because at that time everyne was taken in. He was showing some people where he used to live in Mulholland. Im sure he would love to here from you guys, but he had nothing to do with the crimes and the people....
I wrote him on his facebook- he is a good friend of mine https://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1237602219
Thank you for sharing that PVM - I really enjoy his blog, he is very descriptive of his life in 1960's Hollywood, that's why I shared it here, I know I'm facinated with it and I think others are too... Were you one of his friends from way back when?
He is such a sweetheart- he told me he is "keeping his eye on this", lol Im sure he would love it if you wrote in and told him how much you like his writing. I know very many people out here in Hollywood and I know quite a few whom have been screwed over in the biz. I did not know him in the 60s as I wasnt born, but when you grow up in Hollywood you tend to meet everyone, espescially if you are in the Ent biz.. I remember he said, or wrote that they were pulling EVERYONE with long hair over and brining them in.... he happened to be showing a friend where he used to live up in the B. Canyon and thats when they questioned him. Plus he was good friends with Art Linkletters daughter...
PVM - if he's keeping an "eye on this" he came to the right place. The people on this forum are very knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate, unlike many other sites on this subject....plus he may have a few fans here! Yes, on Bobby's blog he talked indepth about Diane Linkletter's death, and how he felt about her father. Back then, (and maybe still) Hollywood really had a way to hide the facts, I guess all someone had to do was to pay to create and maintain a certain profile... The other theme Bobby is bringing to light is Camarillo State Hospital. I knew about Atascadero and Patton, an acquaintance of mine passed away in 1978 at the age of 29 in Patton - to this day, I still don't know why....he had been committed to all of them including Norwalk for substance abuse and violent behavior...I had forgotten about that until I read Bobby's story. We never dreamed anyone may be conducting drug experiments on the patients...we just thought they "blew their mind out" or something on LSD years ago...at least that's what we were told.
I am glad that Bobby is keeping an eye on this. I really am. Throughout life people appear to be something they are not and often some smile to your face while playing games and running behind the scenes. I hope that Bobby does post at some point, for as Fab said, we have some really great people here. I am currently reading his blog as well and find it very interesting. The whole prison experiment thing really brings up alot of questions.
