    Not Guilty
    Plea on Dope

The Times, San Mateo, Wednesday Dec. 21, 1966

    The daughter of a prominent
    Hillsborough couple pleaded not
    guilty yesterday in San Francisco
    to charges of conspiracy,
    selling narcotics and possession
of narcotics in the aftermath of
a series of raids in the Haight-
    Ashbury district .two weeks ago.
    Melinda Moffett, 19, daughter
    of Jackson and Nancy Moffett
    entered her plea before Superior
    Judge Harry Neubarth. Five
    other young men and women
    'appeared before Neubarth but
    only Miss Moffett entered a
    plea. The case was continued
    until January 17.
    Included in the group was
    William Thomas, 25, of San
Francisco who is known to his
    compatriots as "Superspade."
    Thomas wears a button which
    proclaims he is Superspade,
    "Faster than a speeding mind."
