Socialite In Not Guilty Plea on Dope The Times, San Mateo, Wednesday Dec. 21, 1966 The daughter of a prominent Hillsborough couple pleaded not guilty yesterday in San Francisco to charges of conspiracy, selling narcotics and possession of narcotics in the aftermath of a series of raids in the Haight- Ashbury district .two weeks ago. Melinda Moffett, 19, daughter of Jackson and Nancy Moffett entered her plea before Superior Judge Harry Neubarth. Five other young men and women 'appeared before Neubarth but only Miss Moffett entered a plea. The case was continued until January 17. Included in the group was William Thomas, 25, of San Francisco who is known to his compatriots as "Superspade." Thomas wears a button which proclaims he is Superspade, "Faster than a speeding mind."
