In various places I've read about a skin disease that many in the Family caught. Anyone know what it was in particular? In some footage I've seen of them they have boils on their skin and look unhealthy in general. Just imagine if they did build their numbers out in the desert and kept circulating disease like that amongst each other. They might've become a leper colony.

I believe that in some of the cases, it was called the Fuglies/

Two guesses off the top of my head-mange or veneral disease. However that is strickly an uneducated guess on my part, since I've never seen side effects of those diseases look like. Sounds like it was contagious.

Sorry, should say : since I've never seen what the side effects of those diseases look like. :witsend:

I think this is a great question. An expert should have been, and maybe, still should be, hired to answer it. I’ve said this before and I will say it again, this was a bad time in a bad place, especially for women. High dose birth control passed out on demand at West Hills Hospital, high dose methamphetamine passed out at Dr. Poston’s Medical weight control clinic on Ventura Blvd, husbands sending rockets to the moon and divorced wives dumpster diving behind Thrifty Mart on Valley Circle. There must be medical records on these women and the document-bulldogs on any one of these websites must know how to find them.

Come on "Catscradle", come on "Mike", there is a study to be done here, there is a paper to be written, help me. Have you ever seen medical records?

Having worked in sexual health clinics I have never seen a veneral disease that causes feet symptoms. Syphilis causes a transient rash elsewhere, herpes genital and oral rash...

I believe this talk of foot vd is purely a media sensationalism or Susan haters gimmick with no scientific foundation, what she complained of sounds like a bad case of adult school sores bought about by poor hygiene and poor general health lacking normal immunity.

    Relevant excerpt

    Ecthyma
Ecthyma is a more serious form of impetigo in which the infection penetrates deeper into the skin's second layer, the dermis. Signs and symptoms include:

Painful fluid- or pus-filled sores that turn into deep ulcers, usually on the legs and feet
A hard, thick, gray-yellow crust covering the sores
Swollen lymph glands in the affected area
Little holes the size of pinheads to the size of pennies appear after crust recedes
Scars that remain after the ulcers heal

I think TooLate explained it. I always thought it was the syph or that is what was said. But doesnt syph (or is it gon) that makes one go nuts...I am thinking of John List's wife, I think, that had it bad or something...

Yeah I heard that, don't know how true it is though. I guess it wasn't the LSD and mind-programming after all, it was the syphilis.

I read somewhere, maybe here, maybe somewhere else, or heard it, that it was Bruce who "brought it back" to the ranch. Wonder what that was about?

It's gross anyway. I don't usually adhere to the line of thinking that such things are the natural punishment for a wrongly lived lifestyle but it does seem fitting that the Family would be infected with something like that.

The syph rash us genital and only lasts a short time - the madness comes only many years later.

Stay with me "Cats", and don't leave me. I am willing to go along with the skin thing and I can't rule out Fusarium because every grocery store dumpster was over loaded with those really cool Chiquita Banana boxes during the Panama disease outbreak. I am also willing to go with mycotoxins because they can be mean. But mean and synchronized is a tough one. It could be as simple as finding mild eosinophilia or neutopenia. One CBC could explain it all. Have you ever come across any medical records?

No, but I havent really looked. If you want, I can try to see what I can get.
