Okay Ruby puts the last time she saw Shorty at night too:

    http://truthontatelabianca.com//index.php?topic=988.0

8 ) The last time Ruby saw Shorty was roughly a week after August 16, 1969

        a) The last time she saw Shorty was about 11:00 pm and Shorty said " Gee, I would like to stay down at your house tonight. These people are giving me the creeps. Theyre acting awful weird". He said, "Oh they're fter me. They're out to get me, Pearl."

    9) Right after she had this conversation with Shorty, a car sped up real fast. As Shorty was walking away, Manson, Clem Tufts, Tex and Bruce Davis got out of the car real fast and hurriedly walked toward Shorty. Ruby figured that Shorty could take care of himself since he was a bouncer and so she left. She has never seen Shorty alive since that moment.

    10) Ruby state that Manson and his Family left Spahn Ranch a couple of days after this incident.

--So I wonder when exactly Shorty was killed. It seems to come up a lot in Bruce's hearing, we have the killers saying one thing, and witnesses saying another.

Anyone have any idea how many times a first degree muder conviction has been made without a body?
    Just curious.....

I read a true crime book many years ago called "Zero to the Bone" and it strikes me that I remember they didnt have a body in that case too. Will look for a definite number on that one. Must make the prosecution nervous though, just in case that person surfaces years later.

Supposedly the defense attornies, not in open court, joked that the DA's office was trying to railroad the defendants for a muder that didn't even happen.  :p

I heard that too. And I wonder what would have happened if Shorty walked in? Or if there was ever a case where the supposed dead person showed up...

If Shea walked into court during the trial for his murder, I figure the prosecution and Grogan, Manson and Davis would have all shit their pants!  ;D

Not if was Bugliosi, he would have called him to testify against them.
And Kanarek would objected to his presence as w/out foundation.  ;D

I just stumbled across this while researching an upcoming Bruce Davis series.

I thought the Polanski bonus article was interestingly timely.

I will never understand her part in this. It does not seem right, something is off. If someone told you they were frightened for their life then disappeared the very next day, would you have just dismissed it the way she did?

You'd think, jamie.  She's either a person who refuses to get involved in anybody's business no matter if life or death is involved, or she didn't care.  And you're right.  If Shorty came up to me and said that to me, and then suddenly, there's Manson, and three other people, I would of either kept my eyes on them, following them to watch them, or else tell Shorty that I needed him to come with me for some trumped up reason, just to get him out of the way of Manson.  What an unfortunate set of events for Shorty. :-\
