1) She has known Shorty Shea for 10 to 15 years. 2) Ruby described Shorty as a trusted employee of Spahn Ranch. Ruby states that throughout the years, Shorty used Spahn Ranch as kind of a homing nest, and that he would stay there quite often. Ruby stated that Shorty was there all the time except for when he was away on a job or hunting for other employment like circus or stunt work. 3) Ruby states that never more than several months would pass without them hearing from Shorty. However, she states that she has not heard from Shorty now since August of 1969. 4) Shorty was interested in photography, and he had lost this photographic scrap book which contained many pictures of his earlier days in the movies as a stunt man. He therefore asked for and borrowed negatives of those earlier photographs from Ruby Pearl. Ruby said that Shorty was a very conscientious person and said that he would return these negatives very shortly; however, she never received the negatives back from Shorty and did not see them until Sgt. Gleason showed her the negatives in December of 1970. 5) Ruby stated that the Family was very upset with Shorty for marrying a Negro girl. 6) Ruby states that Shorty started living at Spahn Ranch after the raid of Spahn Ranch, that he lived out of his Mercury car which was parked at the ranch premises. 7) Shorty was very excited about playing in Mr. Bickston's upcoming movie. 8 ) The last time Ruby saw Shorty was roughly a week after August 16, 1969 a) The last time she saw Shorty was about 11:00 pm and Shorty said " Gee, I would like to stay down at your house tonight. These people are giving me the creeps. Theyre acting awful weird". He said, "Oh they're fter me. They're out to get me, Pearl." 9) Right after she had this conversation with Shorty, a car sped up real fast. As Shorty was walking away, Manson, Clem Tufts, Tex and Bruce Davis got out of the car real fast and hurriedly walked toward Shorty. Ruby figured that Shorty could take care of himself since he was a bouncer and so she left. She has never seen Shorty alive since that moment. 10) Ruby state that Manson and his Family left Spahn Ranch a couple of days after this incident. 11) Ruby can ID Shorty's two imitation Colt .45's. 12) Shorty loved his two Colt .45's as much as his right arm and several times left them with Ruby for safe keeping. 13) It appears that Mr. retz discussed Shorty's upcoming duties as his ranch hand in the presence of George Spahn, Ruby Pearl, and Squeaky (these duties to include kicking Charlie and his Family off of Retz's property). It appears that Squeaky probably relayed this information to Manson. 14) Ruby states that she visited Charles Manson in jail in Los Angeles after he was arrested and transferred down from Inyo County. When she saw him she asked him, "Well, I only came here to talk to you about one thing, and I want to know where Shorty was buried." Manson immediately looked down to the floor, wouldn't look at her at any time and said, " Ask the Black Panthers." And Ruby said, "Charlie, you know the Black Panthers have never been up to the ranch". And she turned and walked away.
