Has been reposted on youtube. The joy of TJ and Ansom13, Carol McChesney, Bill Nelson, Deborah Frasier and that John guy with the paper on his face: Manson Family Reunion Part 1 Manson Family Reunion Part 2 Manson Family Reunion Part 3 Manson Family Reunion Part 4
I can't tell you how many times I have watched this video and still I am unable to figure out who "John" is. Any ideas from any of you well informed people?
So funny. I was going to ask if anyone knew who he was. Maybe he was just put up there to make like he was a former member of the 'family'? The Geraldo show was very 'tabloid'.
The first time I watched Geraldo's Interview with CM I thought I'd die laughing. CM was in total control of that interview it was hilarious. CM would sit-G would sit. CM stood--G stood. G followed Manson around the room like a puppy dog. Geraldo made a complete ass of himself IMHO. I thought he had hit bottom when he opened Capone's vault but I was wrong, this interview was the muddy, pond scum bottom for Geraldo. I have noticed when an interviewer treats Manson with just a little bit of respect they get a much better interview than the "tough guy" act most of them try to put on. As an example, the Ron Regan interview is one of the best (IMO) because there is no hint of judgement on Regan's part and treated CM like any other interview. Manson almost seemed normal if there is such a thing. . . . .
Did you ever see the uncut version of that interview taken by the prison guards on the downlow? It may be on youtube? The parts they showed on TV portray a whole different interview than the whole thing shot by the guards. The one done by Tom Snyder is far one of the worst I think. And at one point when the interview comes back on screen, it seems as if perhaps Manson had a break and smoked something.

I'd love to see it even though I agree with you--it is the worst.

I do not think John is Kaufman, but is Kaufamn Phil Phillips? I will go thru my tapes to see what I have. For some reason I remember a longer version of the Snyder, without all the breaks...but it could just be a pieced together one that someone made...will have to dig it out and check and if not then convert it to DVD for our youtube channel...
To me one of the best parts of any interview is when Charlie does one of his weird dances for Penny Danials and says, 'I don't put on airs', and she says, 'aren't you putting on an air for me now?', and CM's face just drops. Other than that all of the mainstream interviewers ask the same old questions which are never really answered. In my opinion the best interview, if you can call it that since the interviewer hardly asked any questions, he seemed so in awe, was 'Charles Manson Superstar'. Charlie was left to his own devices and the inteviewer was non-confrontational so he got the most of CM. Enough. I'm so off-topic!
