    Description

Gary Hinman was murdered by Manson Family members; Bobby Beausoleil and Susan Atkins. This is an authentic "Official Property Tag" which has been dated 9-25-70 and still has the original string attached to the tag. Detective Paul Whiteley who was assigned to the case appears to have filled out this evidence tag and written his last name. A must for the serious Charles Manson Family collector!

what is this... can't remember was he tied up?
I think I will pass on bidding....

It is the tag with the original string that was with the Hinman stuff in police storage.

I don't know how chain of evidence works, but if it was done on 9-70, I wonder whose trial that was for??

Bobby's was over (his 2nd) wasnt it??

You're probably correct w/ the Bobby trial 2.

Okay then I wonder what it was, and if they kept the TLB exhibits for years and years I wonder how this tag got loose. Unless it is from an evidence locker or something...

Weird fact. I can't find a copy of Bobby's first trial anywhere. The courthouse claims that since it was a hung jury they don't keep records. Burton Katz says he lost his in a house fire. No one else says they have one. Ed Sanders mentions reading a copy in his book, and I emailed him to ask him and he never answered me.

I thought court records, hung jury or not, are still legal documents and have to be kept???

How dare Ed ignore you?  ;D

I thought at least he could have said hey I dont have it...
But then with his investigator larsen blowing me off too...makes me wonder.

    It's enough to get a cat's back up.  :D

LOL...and it is just a crazy thought. I mean, the transcript has to be somewhere???

    One would think so.

I don't know Ca. law but most states say that any trial counts!
Testimony can be re-used if witness is unavailable(depending on circumstance)
    so it can't be destroyed.

    That is what I thought.
Either something is in there, or something is up with it.
Any clue where to turn next?

Since so many older trials have never appeared on the web
U are forced into that paying for transcripts merry-go-round :'(
  17. catscradle77 Administrator

The transcript place (my friend contacted them) said they only keep copies for so long and this trial is too old...
