Preston Guillory and I are in the process of assisting Irving Kanarek in getting his law license back from the California State Bar as a matter of dignity and honor. This effort is going to include things that Irving cannot afford. He needs a laptop computer in good condition to assist him and us in researching his case and obtaining documents for his appeal. Irving is 92 and on a pension and cannot afford to do this on his own. If you have a laptop computer, or anything such as skills that can be of assistance, secretarial or pro bono etc., please let us know. This is more for giving something back to him as a matter of restoring his dignity as a human being. Getting him something back that means the world to him. And yes, that means I have conversed with Irving, and yes, he is still the same Irving. And yes, he has consented to be interviewed for our site.
OMG!!! This keeps getting better and better. You are amazing Cats.Maybe the three of you can compile a list of tasks (in your spare time, haha) we could choose from? I would be willing to help but I'm not sure what skills I have that would be useful. Like you, I'm a bit of a techniphobe....This is a good thing you are doing for him and I would like to be a part of it if possible. FB
I had the pleasure of working with Irving as his PI during the 1970's. I have worked with many famous and not so famous attorneys since that time. He is the most reputable and honorable person I have ever met in the practice of law. The law to him has always been a calling, not just a job. Whatever any of you can do to assist us with this effort will be a appreciated. Thanking you from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, Preston
freebird, Thanks for your generous offer of assistance. Irving is still residing in California and we are attempting to muster assistance in that state. This is going to be a boots on the ground effort. Your offer is appreciated and we will contact you as needs develope. We are reviewing legal options and formulating stategy at this time. Sincerely, Preston
Welcome Preston and thank you for sharing your time and insight with us. I must have seen Billy Jack twenty times back in the day, I knew the dialog by heart. To this day I remember sections of it. FB
I will be glad to help with typing, scanning, pretty much anything clerical wise...I'll see what I can do about getting him a decent slightly used laptop... I'm in LA County by the way... might be able to run errands too if time permits...
Right now I can donate a new (in box) HP printer, and an independent scanner (only used a few times) and some misc. office supplies, paper, envelopes, etc...
Can not thank you enough. If we can get him a computer with wi fi this will be over the top. He currently has no office equipment at all so anything we get will help put him in a positon where he can communicate with us. Currently no e-mail address either. Had to use PI skills to locate him. He is as sharp as I remember him from the 1970's. He knows what we are doing and he is very appreciative. This is us giving back to him. Thank you for everything you have done. Cats e-mailed you some information.
Not sure if there's really much I can do from this side of the planet but would be only too pleased to help in any way I can. Irving Kanarek I've always felt was yet another victim of Bugliosi's hype and disinformation. Good on you guys for doing this.
Stuck out in the suburbs of Manchester, UK or in Patagonia (I am now spending much more time there) one thing I can offer is scanning and converting documents, which (as Cats knows) I am happy to do. Just PM me. Peace Jem
Hi Preston. It's good to see you've registered an account. I wanted you to know I enjoyed the most recent Boy King post on your site. I'm sure Joe's efforts will be stone-walled, but it does show people are tired of the poseur's lies and games. Trample the weak & hurdle the dead!
Thanks Mike. Cats site and mine are both about the same intellectual concept, the truth. The public can better make decisions on government actions if they have all available information. I have been putting information out there for years and will continue doing so. We can affect change if we reach enough people with the facts. Irving was forced to surrender his law license for speaking the truth about various people in the law, some elected or appointed at the time. Payback was taking away his law license. When you do something like that to a commited person, you are taking away far more than their ability to make a living. You take away their dignity and self respect and leave a hollow man. I will be very frank with everyone here, Manson is probably where he belongs but, and this is a very big but, he was convicted in a manner that was not consistent with the law. If society decides that the end justifies the means, we will have lost our humanity and there will be no stoping those in authority from simply making those who displease or criticize us from disappearing. Our Congress has recently lost its way and acquiesce its responsibility to the scariest President in my lifetime. A Federal Judge recently stepped in and granted a TRO to stop enforcement of a provision of NDAA that would ignore the 4th Amendment and allow for indefinite incarceration of American citizens who pose a threat to the government without access to the courts. People like Irving Kanarek have always stood up to this type of government abuse. If we allow government to neuter people like him by taking away their ability to portect us in the courts against government intrusion and misconduct, the Republic is lost. Why would a new, young attorney commit themselves to the Constitution after they see what a State Bar can do to fighter like Irving Kanarek? He was and is a unique entity. He can not even see he has supporters like us because the system has beat him down so much he lacks the resources to have a computer or Internet access. One of the first things Cats and I plan on doing after obtaining a comuter for him is to get him an e-mail account and bring him up to speed on Internet access. I spoke to him for the first time in over 35 years a few days ago. It was like a time warp. He still has it folks. The system may have slowed him down a bit as has age, he is now 92, but it was like talking to him back in the 1970's. He knows the legal issues involved in getting his law license back but lacks the resources and access to the system to do so. That is why we are also seeking an Angel in the form of an attorney who believes in the law and due process and who is willing to champion Irving's case, Pro Bono before the State Bar. I am 'boots on the ground' but lack a law degree. Cats and I are commited, if you will, to doing everything on our power to assist Irving in having his law license restored. I urge those who do not know much about Irving except his involvement in the Manson case to do their 'due diligence' on him. He was a brilliant engineer and had a major part in the Nike Missile Program in the 1950's. Talking to him is like talking to your Irish, Italian, Jewish, Polish or German grandfather. Wise, funny a little off center. A really great and committed legal scholar and human being.
Preston Good to have you here. A question, if I may. There's been a lot of head scratching on this forum about how CM managed to stay out of jail for so long between his release in March 1967 and his being charged with murder in December 1969. It gives the impression that he was either being 'protected' or kept on a leash for observation, even when he was in violation of his probation conditions and picked up several times by LEA for offences that would normally invoke a charge and possible imprisonment (I'll not go over the details again here). Do you have a take on this? And do you know if Irving has/had one? Jem
Not out of line Jem, we are just waiting for the podcast to have its own thread for such. This is more of lets help Irving Kanarek. And he has done so much more than the Manson thing.
Preston, What is your website address? If I may ask? If you would rather not post it in open forum please pm me. I would really like to see it. Freebird (and I intend to stay this way)
