I put the standard transmission theory to rest, quite some time back. And once a car's engine stops running, the front pump in an automatic transmissions stops providing pressure to the band or clutch pack engaging the particular gear selected, making it as easy to push as a standard trans vehicle.
I have a theory that could explain this question. First a bit of background if you will. When I was young and not so wise, I spent a good deal of time around drug users and drug dealers. There were many times when I arranged for a delivery of a significant amount of drugs ("hard" drugs, not mj). These activities helped a good deal toward hanging my degree up on the wall, but I digress. There was one thing most every drug dealer had in common when the arrangements were set up. This was that he wanted NOBODY at the house that he didn't already know, preferably nobody period other than him and I. If there was someone there(girlfriend, etc), oftentimes that person or persons were sent downstairs or off to a seperate bedroom. Anyone who's ever been involved in the buying/selling of narcotics, especially on a large scale will know this to be true. Knowing how drug deals are made and how drug dealers operate offers an explanation of the scene when the killers reach Cielo Dr. While not asleep Abigail and Sharon are retired to their rooms. If off to bed, why is Sebring still there hanging around? My guess is they weren't off to bed but merely giving Voytek some space to do his thing. I suppose Sebring was either waiting for someone or something [or was a horrible houseguest]. I believe Voytek is waiting in the living room for someone to come by. I believe that someone happened to be Tex. Reason? No one else shows up for the rest of the night. If it is Tex it also explains how the killers know who all is going to be there. A simple phone conversation could ascertain how many people were there and who they were, no need to case the residence. No drug dealer walks into a situation w/out knowing these things. Of course one would have to buy into the drug deal angle as a motive for this theory to answer the question but it does iron out things quite nicely no? A man w/ a 9 shot revolver and three women w/ knives must have seemed adequate for the job at hand. Unfortunately for the victimes it was. The Family weren't the smartest customers around. But they werent stupid enough to walk up to a house w/ one gun and some knives and just hope it was sufficent. For every other murder or attempted murder(Crowe) the Family knew who/how many were there and what it would take to do the job.
That is very eye opening, Coonhound. And it sounds very plausible. Maybe that's why Linda was there. Wasn't there a rumor that Linda had some dealings with Voytek and he burned her for $5000? Maybe, Linda and Tex were the ones that Voytek was supposed to meet up with that night and that would explain why Linda, who had only been there a month and was chosen among the hard core members who had been there longer than her. And using the ploy of drug buying was just a ruse to get into the house to kill everyone and start Helter Skelter.
In a recent interview Linda has added to her original scripted testimony, that she went through Parents pockets or car to find a wallet or suchlike
Not sure if I've ever read if Parent was left- or right-handed. The photo on this thread shows a slash on the left wrist. If the knife struck hard enough there and the watch was on the left wrist, I assume the band would have been severed and the momentum would have sent it flying -- into the back seat, obviously. Especially if the wound is, as it appears, a defensive wound from raising the hand to try to avoid the knife slash. So it's quite possible that Texas swung the knife before shooting him, or perhaps he shot him, reached in to turn off the ignition and Parent was still alive and reacted on reflex and threw his hand/hands up and Watson used the knife at that time. Even fatal gunshot wounds are not necessarily instantly fatal.
I'm wondering, though, Tex surely would of shot him again if he was still alive somehow. Who knows, maybe that's where the cheek shot came from? We will never know.
I think tex prolly had gun in one hand, knife in the other. He put the gun on Steven and steven grabbed it and tex slashed with the knife from the other hand. Happned in seconds. Window would have been down already, tex sticks gun in face, parent grabs gun, tex slashes to free gun, bang bang bang bang. Then it was on to the house and what was going to be a drug burn was now destined to be a slaughter because tex freaked out and shot parent. I always figured that probably Linda was the reason VF turned the wrong way when he went out the door. He could have been helping AF but in that panic I doubt it. Lindas story is that she said sorry. I think the truth could actually be that she was standing there with a knife and thats why he went the wrong way. Then tex yelled at her to go back to the car and she gave her knife to PK.
True, the Mary Jane I bought required someone that could vouch. Past tense, law enforcement!!! Statute of limitations long gone
