I think the UK system (I have worked mainly there) is probably different to the US one. Most university departments will have many academic staff with doctorates - you're unlikely to get a teaching position without one in a halfway decent university. A professor is likely to be a Head of Department or to have had a chair created for him/her, and is therefore rather higher in status. As Commie can attest, when you graduate law school, you receive a Juris Doctorate degree, but almost no one allows themselves to be called a Dr. unless you are trying to get good dinner reservations. We are an arrogant bunch as it is.

I pick this thread back up because I want to show off our 'team' to any new members - (our vita's should I say)...we are no ordinary, stupid, homophobic, gossip group because we have - A real scholar (Jem, our resident duck) who will not accept random gossip and therefore helps us 'peel the rubbish away'. Our esteemed counselor, the fabulous Dill (who I adore and hope will come to my aid should I ever be arrested)! Our incredible leader who has a degree in psychology, Cars - Mike, our computer website designer who is also a theologist - Several medical personnel - like Michelle (Mountain-digit) and Blondie (Bottled Brunette) - who understand that end and explain things to us when the need arises for such... Rhianon (Tammy) who has been busy lately but is a wonderful video archivist - Si, our British friend that I am in love with who wrote a recent and popular book on the subject and is now as I type this just leaving his latest interview with Kenneth Anger. Paul Krassner comes here - he's Cats buddy... And we even have real 'family associates' not crazy wannabes - Stephanie Schram - who is a reader and sometime poster. Michel who knows Charlie in the here and now and has given us access to his wonderful videos. Now it looks like we've been joined by a woman whose family is close with the Krenwinkel in Alabama... Zoom who has access and reprints so many of the microfiche articles and Fab who is a awesome photographer and has given us so many live photos current to the issue... The incredible Flora who runs a terrific site and is a scholar regarding the Willett case. And of course, moi - who is not an expert about much but can play Lady Macbeth if you need a quick casting or will boss you into redecorating the 'set you live in' - (and who suffers from acute humility). No wonder this is the site that rocks - even the Colonel himself is Cats devotee - by the way he might be crusty but he is very famous out in the LA area in his 'real life' - if you knew what Cats looks like in person you would know why some of the 'men' in this group gravitate to her - she is a beauty as well as smart. When there are so many groups emerging and stealing Cats documents, I think this is a good time to say 'We are an eccentric group, but we have credentials...LOL
Uh I think Si has been back for a few weeks now and I, as far as the Col goes. He is not what you call a "devotee". We have come to have a little respect in our hearts for each others interests in the case and our research. Nuff said on those matters indeed.

I disagree with you Cats - he is your devotee - I've never seen anything written about you by him (Col.) that wasn't wonderful and he hates every body else almost equally. Yes, Respect - very true - especially in a cyber world of crazy behavior - Has Si reported back about Anger since his trip? That Kenneth Anger is really something - one of the strangest birds around... I would love to know what he thinks about some specifics - but he's too busy self-agrandrizing...
Well, dunno, that is something you would have to take up with him, not me. Si has been back and posting and I think that he would answer anything you ask him if he can without ruining the show... Just my catsense.
