Thanks to DebS for this. I am not sure exactly what this paperwork is but the penal codes are for receiving stolen property and contributing to the deliquency of a minor. Where was Charles Manson at this point in time and can anyone else help clarify this?
Springs to mind " In the early morning rain with a dollar in my hand " 5ft 7" this time. Occupation: Shoe Repairer LOFLMAO
Wasn't this the 2nd Barker raid arrest on Oct. 12. I seem to recall the theft charges had something to do with the grease gun from the burnt Michigan loader they found
I do wish that Sanders had an index in his book, it would save so much time! According to the 2002 revised edition the Michigan loader was torched September 18-19, page 282. Manson had been arrested March 30, June 3, August 16, and August 23 in 1969, page 294. I don't see that he was arrested again after the last August arrest so it is quite possible that this arrest was related to the loader among other things. This was the arrest where Manson was found hiding in the bathroom cabinet. cooltide I, too, cracked up over the shoe repair occupation.
DebS I'm still cracking up at the image of Charlie when asked " Occupation Mr Manson ", replying ," shoe repairer, officer" ( maybe there are 2 Charlies, one at 5ft 2ins , The Guru and one at 5ft 7ins who repairs shoes )ROFLMAO
He was arrested with $1.00 dollar in his pocket wow a dollar. I wonder if he put the x in front of his name when he signed the arrest record. 496 PC is for receiving stolen property would that be for the grease gun ? and 272 PC is for Causing, encouraging or contributing to delinquency of persons under 18 years; is this what they kept him in jail for until they got the murder warrents signed I thought he was arrested for torching the Michigan loader?
The charge in front of the two PC charges is a 10851 Vehicle Code charge. It's defined by the DMV as 10851. (a) Any person who drives or takes a vehicle not his or her own, without the consent of the owner thereof, and with intent either to permanently or temporarily deprive the owner thereof of his or her title to or possession of the vehicle, whether with or without intent to steal the vehicle, or any person who is a party or an accessory to or an accomplice in the driving or unauthorized taking or stealing, is guilty of a public offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail for not more than one year or in the state prison or by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment. It is probably a stronger charge than either of the other two and likely is what kept him in jail while LE was looking for other charges, like the torching of the Michigan loader.
