Once again a big thanks to Paul Dostie for these photos. Dr. Marcus Wise. Buster, Dr. Arpad Vass at the Barker Ranch :
Maybe i read this somewhere else, but I thought someone said that they had dreamed about being at tate while it was going on?
I think we should get all the SoCal folks that want to visit and do a road trip when the weather cools off. A couple tents, a fire, a camp stove and lots of water. Then at the end you can write ..letters to your kids "what I did on my summer (fall) vacation". We won't tell them about the guns we will carry.check off where you want to visit_________________Olancha______________barkers ranch____________meyers ranch________ ballarat______________salt flats_____________devils hole_________________ Don't be shy....it could be fun but i am sure it would be interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C"mon you know you want to!!!!!!!!!
My wife already thinks I am nuts for my recent drive from Spahn to each of the murder sites. She just does not understand, but I have thought of at least everyone meeting at the El Coyote for decent margaritas and uninspiring mexican food.
Sometime soon, I plan to be out that way and would think it would be a neat thing to meet up with those who could make it.
It would be great to actually meet everyone and put a face and voice on people. I'm not to sure sbout Dill these days, sometimes he scares me....... FB
s "poisonivy Do I have to be from So Cal. I would like to make the trip if it happens, camping at Ballarat is $3.00 a night, camping at Barker Ranch is free you just need a four wheel drive to get over the wash and you will need to bring in water, food, fire wood and extra gas. Camping at Barker would be a great way to share stories and even photo albums. and then tour the area to the can dump, the junk yard, the south look out, Keystone mine, Newman's cabin, and some of the other canyons in the area to add photos of each place. Please keep me posted if you don't mind a Nor-Cal Dessert Rat meeting up with you all say at The Old Jones Cafe in Ballarat.
Haha... was just there in February - the waterfall is nasty now...we have a jeep wrangler and took us 5 tries because of the wet rocks...we never stay at any of the cabins, too many rats at night...we camp at the mouth of Goler, nice little camp there, plus you can see what's going in and whats coming out of the wash .... Let us know
