Recently I found this ad which ran in the Ukiah Daily Journal, Mendocino County, that apparently was placed by a follower of Jim Jones. This ad touts the many good things that Jones had done for the followers of the Peoples Temple and community at large up to the time the ad was placed.

In the first full paragraph of the second column recounts a question posed by Brooks Poston to Jones about participating in a peace march. I was totally surprised to learn that Brooks had any interaction with Jones!

The ad was placed about five or six weeks before the Boonville Bust of Atkins, Brunner, Van Houten and the others girls.

[sup]wow didn't know that. i think this is only known connection between jones and a manson family member. several members of the fountain of world joined people's temple and died in jonestown.[/sup]

Thanks Deb. Didn't he meet Manson in 1968 as well? At Wilson's house?

For some reason, Paul Watkins on Larry King strikes a chord with me- I will have to rewatch it but I think he mentions crossing paths with Jones.

Bugliosi does say in Helter Skelter 1994, page 314 that Poston met Manson at Wilson's home. Although a syndicated article published Dec. 6, 1969 states that Poston met Manson two years previous in San Francisco.

You're right there Cats- he does talk of a meeting with Jones in Ukiah - although he is vague and doesn't refer to himself, but it on the tape.
    Hope you're well.

Interesting article. I'm pretty sure Watkins met CM in Topanga Canyon but I seem to remember Poston being a buddy of Dean Moorehouse who Manson did meet in '68. In Ukiah. I wonder how those two found themselves living with Dennis Wilson.

Thanks Deb for all the info.

Si-all is well and we must natter soon. I thought he mentioned it, and I really must rewatch it.

Free- I will have to see about Poston's testimony on stuff. I will look into getting it for our forum-I have Watkins to repost and must get it from storage to do so but I do not remember if he mentions anything about it.

I found a youtube of Maureen Reagan, filling in for Larry King, interviewing Paul Watkins. At the very begining of the second part of the interview Paul briefly discusses the Family knowing Jones while in Ukiah. Is this the Larry King Show interview your speaking of?

Little Paul is an interesting guy and a good speaker , its a pity he is gone. He would have made an excellent guest on Cats new podcast.

Watkins glosses over the Jim Jones thing in that interview with Maureen Reagan. He stated in his book and the Hendrickson video that he met CM in Topanga.
What I remember is that Morehouse and Poston were at Wilson's, living in the guest house as groundskeepers/handymen when Tex showed up according to Tex's book. Were they there with the Manson group or did the arrive seperately?
