The article says Peter had been stationed in the South Pacific for several months...was he even around for her birth?

It was set in stone really wasn't it?

Ines divorced him on the grounds of "extreme cruelty". I can't imagine what kind of fella he was.

Back in the day of true California Divorce Court, Extreme Cruelty was a common grounds for divorce.  It did not necessarily mean that there was physical or emotional abuse.

But I'm guessing he wasn't the nicest of people. Ruthless and powerful go together like fish and chips when people have the kind of money he had.

i was explaining to my bff recently about my parents divorce." it was abandonment", I told her, even thought i saw my dad every other weekend. i also explained ya it wasnt really abandonment, but when a man leaves his wife and 6month old son, ya its abandonment pretty much.

She was kind of old to be baptized? I thought you were usually anywhere from a week old to 4 weeks old? Oh, well.

My older boy was baptized when he was two months old and my younger boy was 3 months old, and this was just because we had some family situations going on in the first instance and had to reschedule the original baptism date and with my second, there wasn't an "opening" until that time. This was in the Catholic church as well.

Today would have been Abigail's 69th Birthday, My daughter and I attended a tour this morning commemorating Holy Cross's 125th year in the Colma California location. There was no mention of Abigail during the tour. so afterwords we went and pay our respects to her and took this photo to share. 8-11-12 69th B-bay Today.JPG

    Simple but poignant Vince.
Says it all , 26 yrs old and a life snuffed out for reasons not yet fully understood.

What a nice thing to do, Vince. Were there any people there paying their respects or just you and your daughter?

BB I visit twice a year once at Christmas time, and once on Abigail's birthday and I have never seen anyone else there. It is a very quite place where you hear your footsteps as you walk across the tile/marble flooring or maybe the wind ?. Having my daughter with me this time was nice. I am normally alone when I visit.

That's really nice. Is your daughter interested in this case, too?

I think she is a little bit, she is in the 11th grade and every so often one of her teacher will bring up the subject. I tell her to ask a few questions but she always tells me maybe next time.

That's SO like a teenager! My daughter would say the same thing, too:confused:. I remember when I was in high school, if I was too embarrassed to ask a question in front of everyone, I would go up to them after the bell rang or if we had some free time in class and ask questions, but alas, my youngest daughter won't.

I've always heard that it's pretty common for a baptism to happen around 6 weeks of age. I guess it could depend on your religion and your viewpoint.
