According to the law: What if I Die Without a Will? If you die without a will, also known as "intestate," your property will be divided according to the "rules of intestate succession" for your state. These rules rarely match what people expect. Most people assume that their spouse inherits everything. But usually, if you die intestate, your spouse inherits only half of your estate. The other half is divided among your children and other relatives. I will have to find the date of the article, but it seems to me that it was in the late part of August Peter filed in probate court. I wonder if her estate went back to Peter, and if she would have wanted it this way? Or if she would have wanted her money to go to a charity?
Please make a will. If you want the right person to get yer money then make a will. Protect you`re family or the person you want the lot to go to ,by making this possible, make a will. If you dont it will go to someone yer did not like. Thor
Same here,at least leave the right person the resposibility if you have final wishes. Its horrible to think about it ,but someone yer dont like will get it. (God i know i sound dead bitter),maybe the reason i live in a appartment when i should have been living in the family home (built 1799) on a half acre in the country. If you want remembered for the right reasons,by the right people, leave them yer money. Thor
If you die intestate (w/o a will) your estate goes to your next of kin - in Abigail's case her parents, Peter and Inez. If they did not survive her then it would have gone to her brother Peter and so on... It wouldn't have mattered if she had wanted the cash/securities and whatever to go to charity... that's why you have a will.
A living trust is a much better bet. Any and all wills can and we be contested, Its a funny thing and it happens every day to the closest family's you get Money involved and no one know who you are anymore, everyone starts pointing fingers and all hell breaks loose. Be like some and leave it the Dog and Cat, instead of the Dog and Pony show( Lawyers) and then let them figure it out.
