Interesting! It's true that the actor who played Stovitz didn't look anything like him. Some feel that Stovitz was very bitter over his removal from the case, but I guess only he knows for sure. I still don't buy the copycat motive. If it was a copycat, why no "political piggy", no paw print, Hinman wasn't stabbed 20 or 30 times, this motive wasn't brought up until the penalty phase, etc.
My latest thoughts (and bound to change at any moment ;D) are that each of the murders had their own motives. The lumping of them under one, is to simply, too many players, too many reasons. Stovitz also gave that detailed interview to Rolling Stone under the name Porifiry and I think that maybe he had some media whore in him, but was leaning a different direction from the others. His classic comment about Sadie really wasn't bad enough to me to get him taken off the case, and he blabbed no more to the press than anyone else did. I don't know what ever became of Stovitz, but I am sure he can tell some tales.
Many people close to the case (Sanders, Bugliosi, Katz ,etc) feel that Younger got rid of Stovitz in a jealous fit. Evelle younger was giving a press conference every day, and no one was paying attention. ALL the media attention was on Stovitz and Bugliosi, and I thing Younger was running for Att Gen at the time.
The only reason I can think of is that maybe the Bug was more in Younger's court-and Stovitz was more of a wild card.
Yes, but he could have been jealous too. Often when someone sideswipes someone like that, there are multiple factors. In this case, I think probably Younger had his own agenda, and between the Bug and Stovitz, I think Stovitz had more of a "presence" than the Bug. Also, Stovitz gave that Rolling Stone interview, and said a lot of stuff in that that maybe he shouldn't have at that point.

Apparently Younger was pissed at Stovitz for the Rolling Stone interview, and even though Stovitz next comment wasn't an interview, it was the excuse Younger needed. Besides, we don't know about possible office politics. Who knows, maybe Younger saw Stovitz as a threath at the time? ???
Yes he could have. Evelle Younger seems to have had his own politcal agenda at the time, and perhaps Stovitz was a heavy contender against him. Knowing how politics work, perhaps, Younger didn't feel Bugliosi was that much of a threat, he did lose after all his bid for DA. (even after HS). And George Denny made sure that all the Bug's doings came to light. I found it weird that Denny, Bruce Davis's attorney, seemed to catch all the cases against the Bug...
Or even with the HS hoopla, maybe Younger knew Bugliosi wouldn't win. I just wonder how much of an impact it all made, for one never heard about it. I just found it odd, that Bugliosi never brought up Denny being Davis's attorney and made the claim that the Manson family people were just slandering him..
Aaron Stovitz.
Younger probably saw Stovitz as a "talker" and running for AG as Younger was he didn't want any leaks from the DA's office than he already had.
