Recently I found this ad which ran in the Ukiah Daily Journal, Mendocino County, that apparently was placed by a follower of Jim Jones. This ad touts the many good things that Jones had done for the followers of the Peoples Temple and community at large up to the time the ad was placed.

In the first full paragraph of the second column recounts a question posed by Brooks Poston to Jones about participating in a peace march. I was totally surprised to learn that Brooks had any interaction with Jones!

The ad was placed about five or six weeks before the Boonville Bust of Atkins, Brunner, Van Houten and the others girls.

Yesterday my daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby, another joy that I would have loved my sister to see her, as with all joyous times for me, I think what my sister missed because her life was taken before she had a chance to live. People get that look, some have told me: Get over it, think happy thoughts, get a dog, ETC........have most likely never suffered the loss of a murdered love one dumped in a ravine, waiting for justice to come. As the years go by and with her case 'STILL OPEN'
I know I will never see my sister again-here on earth- however, I choose to remain hopeful and still await the day her killer will face what he deserves here on earth and if that does not happen, I know he will get exactly what he deserves when he dies.

It seems that Darwin Scott had a long career as a criminal. I found a number of articles detailing some of the many arrests that spanned from the '30's to the '60's. Considering the time he spent in prison and the company he kept there does appear to be more possibilities for his death than Charles Manson or anyone in the Family having committed his murder.

We were discussing whether or not there was a Manson Family so to speak and whether or not they called themselves that.

From this guestbook document, it appears they did, dating all the way back to 1968.

Perhaps DebS could provide the background and info on this.
